Time I Found Something Good

I was at a crossroads in my life.  It was 2005 and my girlfriend of 2 years and I had parted ways.  I saw it coming, as you do, and was working 50 hours a week for an employer I despised to keep my mind off things.  Orlando was the city I called home then, and had been there for over 3 years.  It's a city that has everything, but always felt sterile... cold.  The kind of city that wouldn't do you a favor.  On the other hand, some of the best people I've met in my entire life live in that city.

As I said earlier, I had come to a fork in the road in my life.  I was plagued by thoughts of traveling overseas, and getting out of the rut I believed I was stuck in.  My then-girlfriend didn't understand it... Where my head space was at, so to speak.  So, along comes Butch Walker and puts it better than I ever could.  "I can feel it in my bones..."  It was time for me to leave.  And the line "You're just one of many people that never really understood." was exactly what I felt about my previous lover.

For me, this was one of those songs that confirmed that how I felt was right.  I had taken the "proper" path at the fork, and no one was going to stop me.  And though it didn't make sense to anyone around me, I knew something was calling me away.  I couldn't give up my dream of moving to New Zealand for anyone, as harsh as it sounds.  Not for the love of great friends, the love of a girlfriend, or even the idea of being in love.

So what happened when I finally got to New Zealand you might ask?  Well, Butch said it best... "And now that I'm here, it's all so very clear, the reason that I drove away..."

The man in question...

Dan Another great story! We love Butch.
