Use Your Love Tonight
The year was 1998, and I was working for a clothing store called "Goody's." I had been out of high school nearly a year, and I was in love for the 1st time, with a girl my age who also worked at the store. The job was total crap, but I met some great people... people I still keep in touch with today.
Amidst the "muzak" and other generic tunes played on the overhead system, I heard this little gem of a song. I remember asking other people, "Who sings this?!" No one seemed to know. My workmate Josiah Allen commented on how much he loved the song, and so began a budding friendship between the two of us.
I moved away from Tennessee in June 1999. Josiah and I were still unaware of who sang this song, but vowed to keep in touch. The deal was should one of us ever "find out" who sang this song... we'd write, call, email, or whatever we needed to do to inform the other!
About a year later I was driving down the interstate in Memphis, and "Your Love" came on the radio! I quickly dialed information to get the stations phone #, and asked the DJ who the artist was. I was so excited over the discovery, I bought two copies of "Play Deep"... one for myself, and the other to mail to my friend Josiah. Thinking of that still makes me smile.
