When my legs get tired I think I'll twirl
Athens Georgia is hands down in my top 10 favorite places in the US. It reminds me so much of Austin when I was growing up and I can't help but get caught up in the UGA school spirit and the simplicity of the city. An added bonus is that one of my favorite bands hails from the great Athens GA...THE WHIGS
I first saw them play at Smiths Olde Bar in Atlanta and I was instantly hooked. The overpowering guitar riffs coupled with the most amazing drum beats all muddled with drawl of the vocals was a clear indication that this band was going to be huge and I haven't stopped listening to them since. I can honestly say they are the only band whose albums I play repeatedly and I mean seriously every day I listen to all three albums. I have seen them countless times in concert and every show is progressively better, I actually get a little upset whenever a show is over because I just don't want them to stop playing.
I also love that they are genuinely nice guys, who are so thankful and grateful for their fans and for every opportunity presented to them, which I have found to be a rare quality in musicians.
I am really proud of the direction they have taken with their new album "In the Dark" it shows how much they have matured as a band musically and I am really looking forward to more of the badass potential yet to come.
Please do yourself a huge favor and don't keep yourself in the dark, put this band on automatic and enjoy. :)
ps. My ABSOLUTE favorite thing about them...they LOVE Toby Keith.
