John Popper split on me!

When I was a Junior in High School, my buddy Brandon scored some pre-concert party tickets to 99x's Chinese New Years Concert. I believe the killer line up included Hootie and the Blowfish, Matthew Sweet, Moist, and Blues Traveler. So we arrived at the Hard Rock to have a meet and greet with the bands and grab some food. I was already a fan of Blues Traveler and I was really excited to meet John Popper. This was in his larger than life days when he always wore his signature Boonie Hat and vest. Fortunately for me, John was a super nice guy and actually talked with me for 20 minutes or so. At the end, I asked if he had any spare harmonicas that I could have. Not only did he pull one out of his vest, but he played both the Star Spangled Banner and the solo from the song "The Mountains Win Again" before giving it to me. This was already my favorite song from the album and he stopped the room cold when he started playing. The fact that he spit on me as he played only made the moment cooler. Ahh, the life of a rock star. Spit on your fans and they will love you even more. If you haven't heard this song, take a listen. The solo boarders on a mix between the Beatles and Disney's Electric Light Parade. Classic!
